There was a time when Tata had only commercial buyers. I have even heard people refusing to buy Tata cars because they had an image of its cars as a “cab”. Indica, Indigo, Sumo and many more cars are still seen on the roads with commercial number plates and rarely as a private car. Tata tried its best to bring in comfort, features and some premium looks to its cars just to remove the tag of “taxi”.
After Indica and Indigo series Tata introduced Bolt and Zest which again was tagged as a “taxi” just because of low maintenance and its rugged stance.
But now Tata’s image has been totally changed, right from tiago then tigor, Nexon and now here comes The Tata Harrier.

No one could ever imagine that Tata would come up with something so premium so attractive and could draw so much of attention from the buyers.
Its design language, its built quality, the bold stance it holds, is something out of the box by Tata.

Obviously Harrier has got so many elements from Land Rover, which is also the reason behind it being so lucrative.
Harrier comes with 6 variants namely XE, XM, XT, XT Dark Edition, XZ and XZ Dark Edition.
Considering XZ as the standard model which maximum buyers will opt for, let us start the discussion.
Coming to the front section, Harrier has brought some unique design language in the market which is now followed by many of the cars. The DRLs placed on the top most position are not just daytime running lamps but also act as turning indicators for the car.

Getting away from the usual placement position for headlamps, Harrier got its headlamps bellow the DRLs which are placed at a very low position as compared to the traditional positioning.
The headlamp unit is equipped with projector setup which gets xenon projectors in it. Also the fog lamps are included in the same section of headlamps giving it altogether a different look.

The side posture of Harrier is also none the less. It looks a perfect SUV with no out dated design or bulgy body. A chrome lining starts right from the A pillar continuing to the C pillar which gives it a floating roof design.
While seeing from the side, what disappoints you a bit is the size and design of the alloys. Harrier comes with 17 inch alloys which are kind of small as compared to the size of the car, also the design of the alloys is very basic. Such a huge muscular car but so basic alloys… naah, they aren’t really doing justice with the car.
Coming to the rear end of the car

It got its rear design inspired from Jaguar F-Pace a little bit, the tail lamps give this car a design of some concept car from the future. The Harrier badging provided on the rear end gives it a premium feel.
Exterior of this car has been very interesting with no major disappointments as such. Now, let’s move to the interior and see what Harrier offers its lovers.

The interior of the car seems so tempting, isn’t it? I may lack words to appreciate this piece of beauty. Starting from the wooden touch given to the dashboard, is a very nice gesture from the designers. Harrier gets an 8.8 inch infotainment touch screen system which has Bluetooth connectivity, smart android connectivity and apple play as well but, Harrier also has got a 7 inch MID display which shows you the torque at particular RPMs and other basic information.
The sound system of Harrier has 4 speakers, 4 twitters, 1 sub woofer and an external mono amp… what adds to its quality is that the system is provided by JBL.
The car also gets different terrain selector and different driving modes which makes it fun to drive.
The only thing it lacks in the interior is, it could have got sun-roof as a nice touch. Because investing such a big amount should provide you with sun-roof feature.
Safety features
Harrier is a real beauty with brain. It knows what is important for its owner’s safety and therefore Harrier has got many safety features in it like ABS, EBD, ESP as well as traction control in its top spec models.
You don’t just get two front airbags one for the driver and one for the co-passenger but you also get one side airbag for the rear passengers.
Tata Harrier is really a strong competitor in the market for the other cars in the same segment. Tata has put each and every effort to make this car a sure shot success.
Take on a drive once and observe it turning heads towards itself on the road…
